AA explains how speed cameras work as drivers urged to ignore myths

Drivers have been issued a warning to ignore common speed camera myths.

The UK's first speed camera was installed in 1991 and was introduced to ensure motorists stayed within the legal driving limits to preserve people's safety. A study from the London School of Economics conducted between 1992 and 2016 estimated that speed cameras reduced deaths from road accidents by 58 per cent to 68 per cent.

It comes as AA have identified a host of myths that people have been taking as a fact, with the British motoring association warning people about this in a bid to avoid a dangerous situation.
