The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed to local newspaper The Courier it was in attendance.
The A9 is the subject of frequent political controversy because of its high incidence of car crashes, with campaigners calling for the road to be made into a dual carriageway for its entire length to avoid collisions.
Police Scotland was approached for comment.
