Improvements to street lighting on the A77 in Girvan will see temporary traffic signals in place for three weeks from April 11.
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are undertaking street lighting improvements on the A77 at Henrietta Street, Kirkpatrick Street, and Knockcushan Street in Girvan.
The work to renew the lighting columns and underground cabling will take place from Tuesday, April 11 until Friday, May 5, between the hours of 9.30am and 4pm, each day from Monday to Friday only.
The work will be carried out utilising temporary daytime traffic signals installed at these locations.
Single lane closures will be implemented, as well as the use of unrestricted parking laybys.
It’s hoped the £110,000 scheme will benefit around 4,500 vehicles using this route each day, by improving the performance and reliability of the street lighting at this location and reducing the need for unplanned maintenance visits.
Amey thank road users and the residents and business owners within Girvan for their co-operation and patience while these upgrades are underway.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
All schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
Safety improvements measures on the A77 in Girvan are currently underway between Bridgemill Roundabout and ASDA in a bid to reduce speed and collisions on this stretch.
Works- set to finish on April 24- will see a reduction in the width of the carriageway, widening footways, and improving existing pedestrian crossings.
