National Highways will be carrying out an overnight closure at Gamston roundabout today. The major roundabout was closed from 8pm to 6am on Friday, May 13 and will be closed on Saturday, May 14 as well between the same times.
It is part of improvement works being carried out at numerous junctions along the busy road which are nearing their second phase. It will be closed at three points around the roundabout on Radcliffe Road at its junction with Ambleside, Lings Bar Road at the Tollerton Lane junction and Radcliffe Road at the Stragglethorpe Road junction.
A National Highways spokesperson said: "We’re carrying out improvement work at Gamston roundabout, which is part of the A52 Nottingham Junction Improvement scheme. We're currently in the first phase of our main works at this junction, and will be moving into Phase 2 from mid-May 2022.

"During Phase 2, we'll be working alongside the westbound carriageway of Radcliffe Road, as well as the northbound carriageway of the A52 approaching Gamston roundabout. Before we can move into Phase 2, we need to put in place a weekend road closure so we can safely switch over our traffic management and move the concrete barriers."
The second phase will see the construction of a new lane on the westbound and northbound approach of the A52 at Gamston roundabout. Roadworks will remain in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week for approximately 13 weeks from mid-May 2022.
Following this, the third phase will take place from the middle of August until the start of December this year. Phase three will involve a series of night-time lane closures and there will also be some night-time full road closures to allow them to resurface the junction.
