The southbound carriageway of the A46 near Bingham will remain closed 'for several more hours' on Sunday (September 25), highways bosses have said. It comes after a multi-vehicle crash in which vehicles were reported to have left the road.
The A46 southbound is shut between the A6097 at East Bridgford to the A52 near Bingham. The crash was reported at around 9.15pm on Saturday (September 24). Investigation work is taking place from Tenman Lane to the B692 Foss Way in Car Colston.
Three cars were reportedly involved in the collision. Traffic heading between Newark and Nottingham is affected. In an update on Sunday, National Highways said they expected the A46 to remain closed for "several more hours".
Drivers on the A46 are diverting via the exit and entry slip roads. However, currently there are no delays on the approach, highways bosses said on Sunday morning.
On Saturday evening, Nottinghamshire Police said: "Emergency services are on the scene after vehicles were reported to have left the road near Car Colston at around 9.15pm. The road has been closed at the A6097 junction while police, fire and rescue, and ambulance services deal with the incident."
