A vehicle has collided with a pedestrian following what has been described as a "serious crash". Avon and Somerset Police said the A4174 Ring Road has been shut in both directions following the incident.
The crash has led to emergency services setting up a road closure in both directions between the Deanery Road roundabout and Wraxall Road in Kingswood. Drivers looking to use the road have been urged to seek alternative routes.
Motorists caught up in the jams have told BristolLive that the traffic is "madness". Road monitoring website Inrix said congestion is building between Grimsbury Road and Tower Road as motorists are diverted away from the scene.
