An entire carriageway of a major road will be closed overnight for resurfacing after a lorry caught fire. Pictures show the vehicle has been completely destroyed.
National Highways says the incident happened on a stretch of the A1 between Stamford in Lincolnshire and Stretton in Rutland. The northbound carriageway was closed just before 6am on June 7 as a result.
The lorry was stacked with sugar and the incident caused significant delays throughout the day. It is anticipated the road will remain shut until 6am on Wednesday, June 8.
