"A welcome change:" Xbox’s new update is making achievements feel meaningful again — thanks to Gamerscore badges

Xbox controller .

Xbox’s latest Insider update is here. After Xbox CEO Asha Sharma promised to deliver regular updates, the latest rollout for Insiders has arrived, bringing another neat update to achievements alongside the recently revealed new boot-up animation, so let’s go over just what’s here in the latest update.

First off, Xbox’s recently teased new boot-up animation is finally here for Insiders. After Asha Sharma revealed the new animation on X, formerly Twitter, it’s now beginning to roll out for testing.

More impressively, however, are the new tiered Gamerscore badges. Players will earn these badges based on their lifetime Gamerscore, with the designs evolving as your score grows, all the way up to a massive 5 million Gamerscore, while 10 million has also been teased, likely for some time in the future.

In addition to this, users can now access new filters designed to make navigating their game library much easier.

If you wish to join Xbox’s Insider Program, you can follow the guide linked here. However, do so at your own risk, as the experience may still have issues, including bugs and glitches.

I must say, I’m impressed with the progress being made at Xbox lately. While yes, there’s still a boatload of work left to be done, we are seeing genuine efforts being made to improve the overall user experience, and I imagine this is just one of many things currently in development.

I, for one, as I’m sure many others are too, am eagerly awaiting a much bigger overhaul to achievements, but introducing profile badges to showcase your Gamerscore is pretty neat and a welcome change. Now, it’s not quite the PlayStation Platinum Trophy equivalent many people want, but it certainly feels like a step in the right direction, and one can hope there's more achievement updates in the future.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this latest Xbox Insider update, so make sure to leave a comment and, as I always say, be sure to take part in our poll below:
