A videographer was getting ready to film a proposal. Then a woman interrupted: ‘Go back to Mexico’

A videographer posting on TikTok as @trinityfilm appeared to be setting up a camera at Crescent Bay Point Park in Laguna Beach, California, when a woman walking a small dog stopped beside him. In the clip, he was under a polka-dot canopy and wearing glasses while she came along the oceanfront path. On-screen text early in the video read, “racist lady almost ruins proposal ‘go back to Mexico.'”

The post’s caption stated that engagements are not prohibited at the park and that the proposal lasted less than 40 minutes. The video had drawn 2.2 million views, 397,100 likes, and more than 4,800 comments. Another line of on-screen text read, “proposal about to happen.”

The woman told him the park was for people who live there to enjoy and have picnics. She said events were not allowed on the grass for that reason. He answered, “Yeah, I understand, ma’am.” On-screen text at that moment read, “trying to keep it respectful.”

The woman said she had called police before walking off

She told him she had just called the police and that officers were coming to make the group tear the setup down. He replied, “No, I understand, ma’am. We’ll be out. I promise.” She then said, “It’s every single f–king weekend and I’m sick and tired of it.”

He answered, “We weren’t here last weekend.” She told him to have the others tear it down anyway and said, “You’re gonna have to anyway. I’m sick of this sh–t.” On-screen text indicated he was asking her to keep her voice down because the couple was walking up.

He appeared to shush her. She snapped back, “No, don’t tell me to shh. You shh.” She walked away with the dog, turned, and shouted, “Tear it down!” She added, “People can’t come here and picnic on the evening when they want to.”

As she passed him, she yelled, “Bullsh–t!” and gestured toward the band while shouting, “It’s f–king Mexican!” She kept going along the path and raised her voice again: “This isn’t Mexico either, you motherf–kers!” He held up a camera and said, “Say hi to TikTok.” On-screen text again read “GO BACK TO MEXICO” as she moved out of view.

He then ran across the lawn to a tripod-mounted camera. On-screen text said he was running to the spot to make sure the shot was good. The camera showed a couple walking hand in hand toward a white floral arch on the grass, with the ocean and cliffs behind them, while a mariachi band played.

The man dropped to one knee. The woman accepted, then leaned in for a hug and a kiss. Closing on-screen text read, “regardless congratulations to our young and proud mexican couple.” Proposals can come with surprises beyond the moment itself, as when a woman finally gets the proposal she wanted, then notices something about the diamond ring.

A separate line on the video said, “still got the shot doe.” The clip did not show officers arriving or the setup being taken down. Confrontations over language in public have drawn attention before, such as when a woman yelled at an older Dollar Tree employee in Texas for speaking Spanish.

Viewers weighed in under the post. One commenter urged others to help identify the woman, writing, “tiktok lets find her ahhh.” Another commenter said they hoped the call had not interrupted the moment. They wrote, “I really hope the police just ignored her call and the proposal went well. Beautiful footage by the way!!”

One viewer said they did not follow the complaint if the group cleaned up afterward, and pointed to the park being public. They wrote, “I don’t understand her point I get it if they don’t clean up behind them but then again it’s a public property and then she hit with go back to Mexico.”

A separate commenter questioned the tone of the confrontation. They wrote, “why are people so f–king miserable it’s exhausting and sad.” Another viewer responded to the claim that people could not enjoy the park. They wrote, “”People can’t enjoy the park”… sorry but if I were on a walk in a park and a mariachi band started playing I would instantly enjoy my walk more.”
