Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Merrill Kelly dared to question how loud it can truly get at Citizens Bank Park when he wondered if it would be louder than a World Baseball Classic game he was at.
The answer? Well, I don’t have a scientific one. But on Tuesday, as the Phils put together a 10-0 blowout win in Game 2 of the 2023 NLCS, we at least know how loud it can get.
In another one of those videos in a series of only-crowd-noise clips, you can hear how fans go nuts as Trea Turner hit one out. And MLB had a sound level meter to give you a number.
It got up to 108 decibels, which is — per the Hearing Health Foundation — the equivalent of “gas powered leaf blower/ice cream truck” and close to a “dog barking in ear.”
