A trip to Disneyland will cost more starting today

The "happiest place on earth" is getting more expensive. Disney has raised admission and annual-pass prices at Disneyland. While the base-level ticket will stay at $104, a price it has held since 2019, other ticket tiers will see prices increase from $7 to $12, meaning families could be paying as much as 6.5% more to enter the park, depending on when they go. The price changes are effective immediately. Visiting the Anaheim, Calif.–based park (or the adjoining California Adventure park) at peak season will now cost $206. A Park Hopper pass, which lets visitors move from one park to the other, now has a peak price of $271; the base rate will remain at $169. Disneyland has had a tier pricing structure in place since 2014. Annual passes are also seeing price increases of between 6% and 20%, depending on which pass is chosen. There are ways to save, however. Disney regularly offers discounted packages on tickets and hotel stays during off-peak periods. And it recently announced an offer of $50 children's tickets, which can be used starting Jan. 7. (Those will go on sale Oct. 22.) Ticket prices to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., were not affected by Wednesday’s move by the company, although it did raise those in February. Disneyland peak prices have been for years, however. Since 2014, the park’s highest one-day admission price has jumped from $96 to $206, , a 114% increase. The price increase comes as Disney’s expenses have increased in recent months. The company, in July, approved a new three-year contract with workers, called cast members, in California, agreeing to a $24-per-hour base salary. It’s also launching a $60 billion investment into its theme parks, including a $17 billion expansion of Disney World that will include a potential fifth major theme park and several new rides and lands.
