It has been a fall out for the history books.
Brooklyn Beckham wasted no time at all, and held back nothing, as he launched an unbelievable attack on his parents - David and Victoria Beckham.
The former England football legend and Spice Girl favourite were said to have been “blindsided” after their son launched the war of words publicly against them on social media earlier in January.
He broke his silence with a string of Instagram Stories in which he broke ties with his parents and accused them of putting Brand Beckham above their children throughout his childhood.
It comes after years of speculation over division and in-fighting within the Beckham family which reportedly began prior to Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham’s wedding.
But what started it all off?
Here’s a timeline of the feud:
April 2022
Brooklyn and his now wife Nicola Peltz are engaged and planning their big wedding day, but it already appears to not all be roses between the families.
Ahead of the big wedding day, rumours began to swirl that Nicola and Victoria were not the best of friends.
It is said that singer-turned-designer Victoria could not make Nicola’s wedding dress, leading to Nicola to opt for Valentino to make a gown for her in a year long process.
The pair got married at a three-day ceremony in Palm Beach.
August 2022
Dress-gate was mentioned after the wedding, but it appeared the issue had been put to bed.
The newly married pair in an interview tried to downplay the apparent feud and said “all was fine.”
Nicola spoke in an interview with Variety and said that she had wanted to wear a VB original – but the timings could not work, the dress was not going to be ready in time, and so she had to pick another dress.
She told the magazine: “I was going to and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realised that her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress. She didn’t say you can’t wear it; I didn’t say I didn’t want to wear it. That’s where it started, and then they ran with that.”
Brooklyn added: “I’ve learned they’re always going to try to write stuff like that. They’re always going to try and put people down. But everyone gets along, which is good.”
March 2023
It still appears to be a completely united front between the group - at least for the cameras.
The group were spotted together in a rare public outing when Brooklyn and Nicola supported Victoria during Paris Fashion Week, attending the show with the Beckham family.
Posh Spice posted a carousel of photographs on Instagram, including pictures of Brooklyn and Nicola, and said: “My family and friends mean so much to me. Thank you.”
October 2023
And yet again they are spotted together.
The couple came over from America, attending the London premiere alongside the rest of the Beckham family for the Netflix documentary titled Beckham.
February 2024
The women go on a solo mission. with Victoria and Nicola posing together on the red carpet for the premiere of her film Lola. They appear to be in good spirits, smiling together.
April 2024
The first chinks in the armour appear, when Nicola chooses not to attend Victoria’s 50th birthday party.
She cites her grandmother’s health as the reason she could not join and instead opted to post on social media to wish her a happy birthday in a post on Instagram.
May 2025
David throws a black tie birthday party to celebrate his big 50th. However, Brooklyn and Nicola do not attend and the rumour mill begins that there is a rift in the family.
Reports start to emerge, firstly in People Magazine that Nicola allegedly cried during their wedding after Victoria ruined the newlyweds’ first dance. It is believed the Peltz’ put the story out there.
The US outlet claimed that singer Marc Anthony, a friend of the Beckhams, had called up Victoria to the stage calling her the “most beautiful woman in the room”, upsetting the bride.
October 2025
Victoria attends the world premiere of her Netflix documentary series alongside husband David and their children, Cruz, Romeo and Harper, as well as Cruz’s girlfriend, songwriter Jackie Apostel, however, Brooklyn and Nicola do not attend. Reports continue swirling that there is a massive row between the eldest son and his new wife against his parents.
November 2025
David becomes a Sir when is knighted at a ceremony at Windsor castle.
Brooklyn and Nicola did not attend and did not appear to publicly acknowledge or congratulate the football star’s honour, something which was a life long dream of the England footballer.
December 2025
Eagle eyed social media users spot that Brooklyn and his family are no longer following each other on social media.
Rumours continue to swirl, and fuel is added to the fire when his brother Cruz Beckham responded to rumours, saying it was Brooklyn who blocked them all.
January 2026
Brooklyn reportedly issues a cease and desist letter to his parents instructing them to contact him only through his lawyers.
Days later he published a number of allegations in a vicious rant on Instagram Stories against his family which included claiming that his parents have been controlling narratives in the press about his family and tried to “ruin” his relationship with Nicola.
He also addressed a number of rumours about them and claimed that his mother “cancelled” Nicola’s wedding dress design at the 11th hour and that she had “hijacked” their first dance.
The statement alleged that Victoria had danced “inappropriately” on him in front of their guests, adding that he had never felt more “uncomfortable or humiliated” in his life, and that he was blocked by members of his family this past summer.
The other members of the Beckham family have not responded but have shared promotional posts for Cruz’s first music gig at the Courtyard Theatre in east London.
David has only said that as parents they have to “let their children make mistakes” but has not commented publicly on Brooklyn’s statements.
January 2026
David and Victoria put on a united front as they are joined by three of their four children in Paris.
In the family's first public appearance since eldest son, Brooklyn, effectively severed all ties in a bombshell statement, they were spotted in Paris where Victoria was commended for her work in the fashion world at the five-star La Réserve Paris ahead of the appearance at Haute Couture Fashion Week.
They were joined by sons Romeo and Cruz, and daughter Harper, with Brooklyn still noticeably absent.
