The internet has gone bonkers over another TikTok drama involving a bloody cake. But once you see this delectable weapon, you’d be pretty pissed too if someone allegedly ate half ya damn creation!
Influencer and private chef Ryan Nordheimer (@ryannordheimer) has recently exploded on the platform after he accused a high-end New York City restaurant of eating half of his birthday cake.
Thankfully, the beef between Ryan and the unnamed restaurant has seemingly cleared up since his first explosive video, which has clocked more than 8.4 million views, but folks are still carrying on about the whole debacle.
So, if you’re feeling a bit messy and want some drama to fill up the small spaces in your life, here’s a whole explainer!
TikToker claims a restaurant ate half his friend’s birthday cake
In his now-deleted video, Ryan accused a high-end restaurant of eating half of his 15-layer funfetti cake he had made for his mate’s birthday. According to the TikTok chef, the cake took him a total of “five or six hours” of his time and had a value of hundreds of dollars.
Ryan went on to explain that he always makes cakes for his besties and that when he arrived at the unnamed restaurant, all things went as normal.
He then went on to show the size of the cake and added that he “called the restaurant ahead of time” to see if he could do the cake cutting. However, the restaurant declined the request due to safety reasons.
“They ended up taking the cake back to the kitchen to serve it,” Ryan shared, before revealing the thinnest slices of cake the restaurant dished up.
“You can really see here how thin the cake slices were. We’re looking at a few millimetres of thickness.
“So just doing some rough estimation, there were 12 of us at the dinner. If we’re each served a slice about this size, maybe it’s a little bigger, that’s gonna be about half of that massive cake. Definitely, not all the cake was served to us.”
The TikTok chef then revealed that when the party asked for the leftovers of the cake, they were told there was no cake left.
“The only explanation is that this high-end New York City midtown steakhouse took the cake back into the kitchen, cut all of us meagre sizes to eat and they’d just eaten the rest of them for themselves,” Ryan claimed.
“I sort of understand, it’s a long shift, and they deserve a little bit of a sweet treat at the end of their night. But the cake is my hard work and my friend’s birthday present that I gifted him. It’s definitely a little disappointing when my friend is just left with the memory of one of these slices that he ate at the end of his dinner.”
In a strange turn of events, Ryan added that this isn’t the first time this has happened, except the restaurant from last time only took two slices rather than half the cake.
As of writing, it appears that the video has been taken down from Ryan’s account. But before it was yeeted off the platform, the TikTok chef clocked more than 8.4 million views.
Despite Ryan not naming the restaurant, folks were quick and managed to identify the location in his comments section, which then lead to its social media accounts being flooded with remarks regarding the extravagant funfetti cake.
And let’s just say, the comments were fucking brutal but golden.
TikToker shares update regarding missing cake
A day after sharing the original storytime, Ryan returned to TikTok to provide an update regarding the missing cake.
This time around, Ryan revealed that he’d been contacted three different times by the management team of the restaurant. He then claimed that no, they did not eat the scrumptious cake, but instead, the funfetti creation was just forgotten about by the staff.
“They looked into the security footage within the kitchen and they did confirm that a portion of the cake they neglected to give back to my friends and me as our rightful cake leftovers and that they most likely forgot about it,” Ryan shared, adding that the restaurant invited them back for a free dinner for two as compensation.
“It’s disappointing that we didn’t get our leftovers but most likely that happened, and I do have to think, it was a busy Saturday night and there’s a lot of things going on in the restaurant and unfortunately my cake ended up on the chopping block at the end of the night,” Ryan added.
The TikTok chef then went on to say that viewers need to take a “chill pill” on the restaurant’s Instagram page.
“I don’t think they really meant it or deserved it,” he continued.
“There’s plenty of people at that restaurant just trying to make a living like all of us and they’ve admitted it was a mistake.”
And just to reiterate, although Ryan did not name the restaurant, viewers were quick to point the finger at New York City’s Quality Meats, who’ve since received a wave of brutal backlash from netizens.
Following their newfound infamy, the restaurant revealed in a statement to PEOPLE that there were only two slices left, rather than half a cake and denied that any staff had taken a bite out of the delectable dessert.
“To be clear, our team has referenced security footage of the kitchen that evening to get an exact sense of how much of the cake was left at the end of the dinner,” a spokesperson for the restaurant told the publication.
“While we acknowledge that we failed to pack up the remaining two slices, the accusations that the staff ate the cake are completely false.”
Despite the air being cleared regarding the cake thievery, Quality Meats NYC have continued to receive some pretty brutal commentary online even after Ryan’s update.
As for Ryan, the TikToker is already baking up another birthday cake for another bestie. Hopefully, it’s enough for his friend group and the staff! JK!
