A teenage boy from Beldanga, in West Bengal's Murshidabad district, was airlifted to Mumbai this week and admitted to Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital for specialist evaluation. He had been spending days and nights in village ponds, telling family and neighbors that the moment he came out of the water, a severe burning sensation spread across his body.
The transfer was arranged on the instructions of Reliance Industries executive director Anant Ambani after a video of the boy eating a meal while sitting in a pond circulated widely on social media. The Indian news agency ANI reported the move on August 17, and it was picked up across Indian outlets over the following days.
