A Stone's Throw Festival announces second wave of names for its North Tyneside debut

New festival A Stone's Throw has announced the next stage of its line-up which is out to rock North Tyneside on its summer debut.

Newcastle singer-songwriter Heidi Curtis is a new addition to the programme as is fellow up-and-coming indie name Second Thoughts and synth-popsters Deco. The inaugural festival will play out across North Shields and Tynemouth with more than 60 new music acts being showcased at 12 venues on one music-stuffed day - May 28.

The latest announcement follows news of the festival's stage one line-up which includes rapper Berwyn - who was voted Best New Act from the UK at the NMW Awards - and Island-signed singer-songwriter Sam Tompkins in his first headline slot. Among the others are 'pop queen' Lauran Hibberd and indie rock band Wych Elm.

Salt Market Social will be the festival's main host venue while the mix of acts will also take to stages at The Exchange; The Engine Room; Three Tanners Bank; Flash House Brewery; Karma Coast; Tynemouth CIU; Barca Art Bar and The Watchhouse Museum. There are plans to link them all via a Go North East open-top bus service.

Second Thoughts will be playing A Stone's Throw festival (PR)

A Stone's Throw is just one of several music events bringing the buzz back to the North East the summer following the past two years of pandemic cancellations. Another nearby festival will be Mouth of the Tyne which is making its post-Covid return to Tynemouth in July and which has just announced that Sophie Ellis-Bextor will be its Sunday night headliner on July 10.

For information about the full A Stone's Throw line-up and for festival tickets, which cost £33.34, see here.
