A spoonful of this daily fiber mixed into your breakfast may help reduce knee pain, new study finds

If you or someone in your family has been struggling with knee osteoarthritis, here's a bit of good news that doesn't involve another round of painkillers. Scientists at the University of Nottingham have found that a fibre called inulin, the same one naturally present in onions, garlic, bananas, chicory root and Jerusalem artichokes, may meaningfully ease knee pain and improve day-to-day movement.

The findings come from the INSPIRE trial, published in the journal Nutrients , and they're already being called an "exciting" development by the researchers involved.
