Following last Sunday night’s Cowboy-49ers NFC divisional playoff game there was only one thing everybody could talk about – the hilariously bad final play that Dallas ran, which had everyone in tears of laughter.
Actually, there were two things everyone was talking about following that wild ending, and it was a very serious matter – how in the world did 49ers GM John Lynch get from his suite to the field so quickly in the final minutes of the game?
The theories were endless, with fans thinking maybe he teleported his way down to the field, or maybe there were two John Lynches, or maybe there was CGI used, or maybe we are all just a part of some person’s dream and none of this society that we live in even exists!
OK, I might have lost my mind there a little bit and added some theories that didn’t get mentioned but whatever, it’s Thursday morning and the coffee is humming. But people did have lots of things to say about Lynch and his time travel so I’m not alone here.
Well, folks, I have some great news. We now know exactly how Lynch made it down there so quickly and it’s all because of one very smart reporter (David Lombardi of the Athletic) who woke up this week and decided to do the Lord’s work and recreate every single step that Lynch took Sunday night.
This video had me on the edge of my seat the entire time and I hope the people who pick the Oscar nominations can make a late addition to Best Picture because this was a thing of beauty (and also had a way more believable ending than that silly Top Gun flick).
I raced @JohnLynch49ers from his suite to the field to demonstrate how he made it so fast on Sunday: pic.twitter.com/B1OGxkJEE7

We need more journalism like that. Heck, we need more films like that!
It’s great that we finally got an answer to this situation and that there are people like David Lombardi out there in the world who are willing to do whatever it takes to track down those answers for us.
