A Place In The Sun presenter Laura Hamilton shared her “heartbreak” after witnessing a teenage boy die on a beach.
The property expert, who regular hosts the Channel 4 show, became emotional as she recounted seeing a 19-year-old pass away.
Hamilton said the ordeal was a “reminder of just how precious and fragile life is”.
The incident is believed to have occurred while she was on holiday in Cyprus with her daughters from her former marriage.
“I got about three hours sleep last night and I think it's because of what I saw on the beach yesterday,” the 44-year-old said in an Instagram video.
The mother-of-two - who battled a fire at her home in 2022 - explained that she had wrapped up filming when the incident happened.
"I headed to the beach and when I arrived there was a lot of commotion, didn't really know what was going on. It turns out, there was a fatality, and it was, kind of a crazy thing to see,” she said.
Hamilton went on: “I thought the individual was older than they were, and it actually turned out it was a 19-year-old boy. They tried to resuscitate him, but they couldn't, and sadly he passed away."
The Channel 4 host shared an urgent warning with families heading to the beach this summer.
"Just be really, really mindful when you're in the sea of currents," she begged. "If you're letting your children, even as a grown-up, if you're going into the sea, just be careful.
"Life is short. You don't know what's around the corner, so make sure you appreciate the people in your life because nobody knows what tomorrow holds."
Hamilton captioned the video: “This isn’t the post I imagined sharing on a Friday morning.Yesterday, I witnessed the tragic loss of a 19-year-old on the beach. My thoughts are with his family and friends, whose lives have been changed forever. It’s a heartbreaking reminder of just how precious and fragile life is.
“Please cherish the people you love, never take time together for granted, and if you’re heading to the coast, be careful in the sea.Take care of yourselves and each other.”
The tragedy comes after another A Place In The Sun presenter, Jasmine Harman, paid tribute to a show guest who was presumed dead in the recent Spanish wildfires.
Annette Kilgore, who appeared on the Channel 4 property show with husband Malcolm Timbrell in 2023, is feared dead in the blaze, which broke out in a semi-arid area near the Sierra de Los Filabres mountains.
Timbrell explained that he thinks his wife was killed after he became separated from her as the flames surged towards the home they found on TV in the village of Bédar in the Almeria province.
Harman shared her “deepest condolences” with Timbrell in a post on Instagram, saying she “couldn’t imagine” what he was going through.
“Some awful news. You may have seen on the news that Spain has been experiencing some terrible wildfires, and I was so sad to hear of the tragic deaths of several people in Bédar,” she penned alongside a photo of a beach at sunset.
“Sending deepest condolences to those have lost loved ones. Especially to Malcolm who previously appeared with his wife Annette on A Place in the Sun.”
Harman - who joined A Place In The Sun in 2004 - went on: “I don't really have the words to say how very sorry I am for your loss Malcolm. I know we have never met, I can't imagine what you are going through right now.”
