A Place in the Sun star Jonnie Irwin has shared emotional snaps for his 'best Father's Day ever' as he spend the day surrounded by his loved ones.
The dad of three, who has terminal cancer, posted pictures with his kids Rex, three, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac with his wife Jessica Holmes, who he married in September 2016.
Sharing a series of photographs, which featured home made cards, cake in the garden and a motorbike ride, Jonnie penned: "Had The best Father’s Day ever. Breakfast of Chocolate Guinness cake baked expertly my brilliant wife then cards from the boys and visit from my brother in law for a brief pillion ride back in time to enjoy some of the highs and lows of the Ashes ending in more cake with more family washed down by a drop of champers. #fathersday."
And many of his friends flocked to the comments.
One wrote: "Thank you for sharing the moments of your special Fathers day with your family Jonnie. If I could have one miracle right now I’d give it to you."
Another added: "Think of you every day Jonnie. You are giving your boys memories of a wonderful, brave daddy."
While one penned: "Happy Father’s Day to you, just beautiful memories for all."
In 2020, the star was filming a project in Italy when he first realised something might be wrong with his health. He was driving when he experienced blurry vision and tests later confirming that he had developed lung cancer, which had spread to his brain.
Jonnie has not yet told his three children about his terminal diagnosis and sometimes he feels that he has to 'remove himself' from his home and his family when he is in the depths of chronic pain - and the hospice is where he can find some solace.
He told HELLO! Magazine that this Father's Day will 'mean the most'.
He said: "I want to make plans. I want to make memories and capture these moments with my family because the reality is, my boys are going to grow up not knowing their dad and that breaks my heart.
"I don't know how long I have left, but I try to stay positive and my attitude is that I'm living with cancer, not dying from it. I set little markers – things I want to be around for. I got into the habit of saying: 'Don't plan ahead because I might not be well enough'."
