A Place in the Sun's Ben Hillman wowed by buyer's international sportsman past

A Place in the Sun's Ben Hillman was wowed by a househunter's sportsman past on today's show.

The property expert was helping Jo and DP find their dream property abroad. Ben showed the buyers around five properties in the Costa del Sol as they aimed to find a two bedroom townhouse within their maximum budget of £240,000.

Jo and DP were aiming to find the perfect blend between a retirement home and rental opportunity as they hoped to live in the town of Nerja for three months of the year. Ben halted the search during the episode to compete against DP as it was revealed he had toured the world as an international squash coach and former player.

The property expert challenged the buyer to a game of paddle tennis on a court located near to property one. Ben quizzed DP on his career before the game started

The buyer said: "I played for England about 40 times in my career. Jo's daughter, my stepdaughter, was actually the number two squash player in the world."

Ben was mortified as he questioned "what he had let himself in for" before the two competed in a rally. The buyers eventually resumed their search, but it proved to be a difficult one as Ben struggled to find a home that matched the couple's criteria and was within budget.

The couple eventually put a bid in for the final property they viewed in the town of Almuñécar The townhouse was valued at £222,689, but the buyers would only go as high as £195,000.

The owner refused to consider a deal and the house-hunters are still on the lookout for their dream property.
