A canny couple left A Place in the Sun viewers stunned after securing their dream home with a 'cheeky' bid
Scousers Paul and Nicola appeared on the hit Channel 4 show on January 27 hoping host Ben Hillman would help land them a getaway property on the holiday island of Lanzarote.
The couple had set their hearts on a Canary Islands home after falling in love with the island nearly 20 years ago while on holiday with their three sons - and it became a regular holiday destination ever since, reports the Star.

With Paul's retirement looming, the couple set off with a £180,000 budget and found their ideal bolthole on the show, only to be initially disheartened to discover it was listed at a price out of reach. But their despair turned to elation as their first bid was accepted.
After identifying Puerta del Carmen as a potential site, the duo had a string of requirements for the property. They wanted one to two bedrooms, a pool and some outdoor space.
After seeing five properties, the couple fell in love with a one-bed home that was on the market for £198k - well over their budget. Nicola replied: "This is the best place in Puerto del Carmen." He said: "I love it." Nicola said: "Sold!"
Ben joked: "You know that's probably the easiest property search I've ever had." The buyer explained: "This is where we stay. We've stayed in Matagorda, we've stayed in so many different places in Matagorda. This is fantastic."
Ben told the couple: "The two properties you've liked are the two properties that are over budget."
The pair decided to make an offer despite being £18,000 shy in their budget. The pair opted to go low with their first offer - with just £162k.
Remarkably, Ben announced they were successful as he said: "£165,000 and that place is yours." Viewers took to Twitter after seeing the couple's brazen offer as they couldn't believe they managed to land the huge deal.
One user wrote: "Wow! Proof positive of if you don't ask you don't get .. fair play, they've got a bargain." Another added: "Blimey, I guess making a cheeky/insulting offer sometimes works!"
A third commented: "Bloomin heck they landed on their feet there." Other users branded the pair "lucky buggers" and said they got a "bargain" for the "best property."
