Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated 8,912 TIDCO houses at PMAY-YSR Jagananna Nagar, the largest layout in Andhra Pradesh, which had come up at a cost of ₹799.19 crore in 77 acres at Mallayapalem village in Gudivada on June 16 (Friday).
Later, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy, along with Housing Minister Jogi Ramesh, Municipal Administration Minister A. Suresh, Gudivada MLA Kodali Sri Venkateswara Rao (Nani), Machilipatnam MLA Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani) and other officers, went around the colony.
The Chief Minister walked into the flats, interacted with the beneficiaries, and enquired about the quality of the houses.
Later, the Chief Minister unveiled the statue of his father and former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy in the colony.
The officials later said that apart from the TIDCO houses, 7,728 house sites spread over 178.63 acres were being provided adjacent to PMAY-YSR Jagananna Nagar. Construction of 4,500 houses at these sites was under progress, they said.
The house owners, particularly women, thanked the Chief Minister for providing them a dwelling, and posed for a group photograph with him.
The Chief Minister handed over the registration documents to a few beneficiaries such as A. Manisha, Sajeeda Begum, M. Padmavathi, K. Lakshmi Manasa, A. Ratna Kumari and M. Uma.
He also announced the allotment of lands for burial ground, drinking water plant and internal roads in the Jagananna Colony coming up at a cost of ₹75 crore in Gudivada town.
