A new Sports Direct is opening in Swansea's Parc Tawe

A new Sports Direct store is opening in Swansea's Parc Tawe. Shoppers have spotted new signage in the windows of the old Mothercare unit, which left the shopping park in 2020.

It will be the third store in in the city, joining sites at Morfa Shopping Park and on Oxford Street. The store at Parc Tawe will also house Evans Cycles and Game. Both were bought out by Frasers Group, who own Sports Direct in 2018 and 2019 respectively.

Sports Direct spokesperson said it will open in July.

This is the second store to announce it's moving in to the city in the past week, with River Island announcing it will take over the empty New Look unit on Morfa Shopping Park. You can read more about this here.

The retailer sells mainly sports gear including clothes, shoes, sports accessories, clubs, rackets, balls as well as stocking well known brands, such as Adidas, Nike, Puma, and many more.

Parc Tawe Retail Park had a revamp in January 2017 and is now home to Aldi, which opened in September 2021, B&M, Double Zero restaurant, a Costa drive through, India India, Denny's, Tenpin and Treatz.

There is currently only one empty unit left in the park, situated next to the new Sports Direct and Office Outlet.

Sports Direct will join 13 other permanent retailers on site, with the latest addition, Flashpoint, set to open this summer. Flashpoint is a new climbing centre, which will offer inductions and classes for complete beginners as well as services for children - such as ninja courses and soft play areas. You can read more about that here.
