Uber Grace Michigan PEOPLE Southfield

Braya Ray was in for a big surprise when she hopped into Meghan “Maggie” Whatley’s Uber last year. Not only did Ray, 25, unexpectedly welcome her baby daughter Grace in the backseat of Whatley’s car, but the experience bonded the pair so much that now, one year later, Whatley, 35, joined Ray’s family to celebrate Grace’s first birthday. In an exclusive report, PEOPLE shared how this extraordinary moment led to a lasting sisterhood and a heartwarming reunion at a 'One Wild Ride'-themed party in Southfield, Michigan. Thanks to Uber, Ray’s family and friends came together for the celebration on Saturday, August 15, reuniting Whatley with the little one that she helped bring into the world.
