The San Francisco 49ers found themselves in a terrible situation during Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Eagles: They were basically out of quarterbacks.
But leave it to George Kittle to find a way to keep things light on the sidelines.
Starting quarterback Brock Purdy suffered what ended up being a UCL injury to his throwing elbow, and his replacement Josh Johnson would leave the game with a concussion. That had the Niners weighing the option of Christian McCaffrey at quarterback or going back to Purdy with an extremely limited playbook of hand-offs and checkdowns.
The Niners settled for the latter, but Kittle had the question for Purdy that we were all wondering — you know, just to be sure.

"Brock, lefty? are you ambidextrous?

He wanted to know if Purdy could play lefty.
In footage from NFL Films’ Inside the NFL, Kittle asked Purdy on the sidelines, “Brock, lefty? Are you ambidextrous?” Purdy could be seen shaking his head, unfortunately. But let’s be honest, it couldn’t have gone much worse than what the Niners were stuck with. The Eagles won, 31-7, to reach the Super Bowl.
Still, every team needs a personality like George Kittle. That was great — he tried to cheer Purdy up.
