A MAFS Couple Literally Just Called It Quits During Their Trainwreck Homestay

Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2026 Homestays Week has come to an explosive end with one couple calling it quits ahead of Final Vows Week.

This article contains Married At First Sight 2026 spoilers. You can choose to stay or leave.

While we’d love to stay and swoon over Rachel Gilmore and Steven Danyluk‘s adorable Homestays vacay, we unfortunately have to move on to the clusterf*ck that was Chris Robinson and Sam Stanton‘s Homestays sesh, which resulted in an unsurprising breakup.

Again, if you’ve been following MAFS throughout the whole season, their relationship’s demise doesn’t come as a surprise, with Chris writing “leave” in last week’s Commitment Ceremony.

However, for those who need a catch-up, Chris and Sam’s relationship was honestly good at the start. But after one Commitment Ceremony — where Chris revealed that he would like for Sam to move to Sydney and live on their farm — their connection absolutely carked it.

You see, Sam claimed Chris didn’t consult him regarding their relationship beyond the experiment. When he attempted to share his feelings with Chris, the pair ended up arguing, with Sam expressing that Chris’ apology didn’t feel sincere.

Their argument unfortunately spilled over to the Dinner Party, where other members of the cast chucked in their two cents on their relationship. Following that explosive Dinner Party, the pair took to the Ouch Couch, where Chris wrote “leave”, which upset Sam.

“It just hurts to be like you’ve just given up because it got tough for a few days. I just can’t believe it,” Sam said, revealing he wrote, “stay”.

On to Homestays Week, Sam went to live on Chris’ farm, but the whole ride there and their interactions in the Southern Highlands estate were quite awkward, with Sam admitting that he can’t move past Chris’ actions at the last Commitment Ceremony.

However, things came to a head when Sam decided to read out his diary and ask Chris a bunch of questions regarding their relationship.

The questions were quite scathing and included phrases like:

  • “Do you accept full responsibility for your defensiveness and full aggression I felt from you last week?
  • “Do you think it was fair what the Experts said to you on the couch?
  • “Do you realise my awkwardness and silence towards you was a direct result of your behaviour, not me being cold for no reason?”

“I’m so over it,” Chris shared in a confessional, admitting that the whole ordeal felt like he was getting feedback from a teacher.

“I’ve got so much sh*t going on. I’m so f*cking over it.”

In the end, Sam admitted that his feelings for Chris “were pretty gone” and that he “can’t see this working”.

“Um, Sam and I have just broken up,” Chris shared in a confessional before it cut back to that awkward as F*CK chat.

In a separate producer-led interview, Sam admitted that this wasn’t how he saw them breaking up, or how his MAFS journey would go.

“I’m a little annoyed, to be honest. I really thought Chris would fight for me a little bit,” Sam shared.

Their awkward Homestays ended with Sam packing and leaving the farm and telling Chris to “take the list to someone else”.

Married At First Sight fans react to Chris Robinson and Sam Stanton’s breakup

While most fans had been on Sam’s side during the relationship’s breakdown, some had a bone to pick with his line of questioning.

But ultimately, fans were mostly surprised that Chris didn’t “expect” the breakup.

Honestly, I wish things were different for this couple. But hey, at least we got some amazing fan edits of Sam, because that’s what he deserves.
