Eddie Howe has hailed his boys from Brazil and revealed they are "a joy" to work with following their demolition job on Norwich City on Saturday afternoon. Joelinton, restored to his role as a striker, led the way with two well-taken goals at Carrow Road before Bruno Guimaraes put the lid on it with a wonderful chip over Tim Krul at the start of the second half.
Howe says that the pair's flamboyance can benefit Newcastle as they prepare to have a say in the title race with games against Liverpool and Manchester City. When asked about the South American duo, Howe said: "They’re a joy to work with. They do have that inner strength.
"They’re both great people and they’ve become integral to the squad. They’re settled in and very popular. They do have a slight flamboyance with the way they play. "I’m delighted with both of them and long may that continue really."
Newcastle moved up to the dizzy heights of ninth place in the Premier League with the resounding away win at Norwich - the club's first at this venue since 1994. Howe said it was great to see some success after a tough period last winter.
He added: "I think it is, when you look back and think of some of the days we had early on – the Cambridge defeat, the late equaliser Watford scored, they were difficult moments and we were a long, long way from where we are now so it’s taken an incredible effort from the players, staff and supporters to lift us into the position that we are."
