A Grown-Up Guide on How to Embrace the Ongoing Bag Charm Craze in Sophisticated Fashion

We have lots to curse, er, thank Miu Miu for. The no pants look, micro skirts and the explosion of bag charms, for starters. The French label didn't invent the latter, but it did popularize the process of stacking a ton on the side of handbags beginning with the Spring 2024 season and continuing for Fall 2024. It even made overstuffing the inside of our bags a thing. Unfortunately, a majority of charms are somewhat cartoonish, making it hard for adults to try out the trend without looking like they're carting their child's bag around for them. So we made it our mission to track down elegant bag charms.

They actually do exist. Most come courtesy of fashion houses, mainly in the form of their respective logos. A few take a less obvious approach. Bottega Veneta goes the fringe route, while Larroudé uses red beads to make a statement. Many brands have put out actual bag charms, but you can also use keychains. Either is way cheaper than buying an actual bag from them so we won't tell if you use these charming accents to make onlookers think you're toting an It bag around town.

Layering bag charms is an art form. Much like its penchant for overloading the interior, Miu Miu likes to pile them on the outside for a cluttered look. In the real world that's far too chaotic, however. Instead, stick with one or two or opt for one with several strands or charms already attached.
