A Florida player literally spit on a Florida State player and was promptly ejected for grossness

Florida defensive lineman Jamari Lyons learned the hard way about what happens when you… *checks notes* …spit in the face of an opponent in front of a referee during a football game.

It happened while the Gators took on Florida State in Gainesville on Saturday night, as Lyons and opposing offensive lineman Keiondre Jones got into a brief skirmish that ended in Lyons hocking a huge loogie in Jones’ face.

Understandably, Lyons got immediately flagged by a ref for the gross gesture and later ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct. I mean, can you really blame the officiating crew for this call? That’s just disgusting!

It’s hard to know what would compel a football player to spit in someone else’s face on national television and in front of a referee, but that’s exactly what Lyons did during his team’s game against an undefeated rival.

Florida lost a key member of its defensive line for the ejection, and Lyons lost a lot of saliva — but hopefully learned a good lesson about how never to do something like this ever again.
