Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) released a statement confirming that the rapper - real name Rakim Meyers - was arrested at LAX airport in Los Angeles on Wednesday as he returned home from a holiday in Barbados with pregnant girlfriend Rihanna.
A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department booking report stated Mayers was booked into jail at 12.42pm local time.
Jail records show that the Sundress hit-maker’s bail was set at $550,000, which he paid less than three hours after being taken into custody.

According to NBC News, the victim – who survived the shooting – allegedly told police that the 33-year-old approached him with a gun in the street where the musician was reportedly accompanied by two others.
The man claims Mayers shot at him up to four times and that one of the bullets grazed his left hand, according to reports.
The Standard has contacted a representative for A$AP Rocky for comment.
A$AP Rocky and Rihanna first confirmed that they were expecting a child together in February.
The Umbrella singer is expected to give birth this spring.
The couple were recently forced to deny claims that they had split following claims he had been unfaithful.
