A 13-year-old boy has died after apparently getting into difficulty while swimming in the River Tawe in Morriston, Swansea.
South Wales Police said an extensive search was launched on the evening of Tuesday, May 24, also involving, the fire, ambulance, and coastguard services and the force helicopter after a report was received that children had been swimming in the river and one boy had not been seen coming out of the water.
They said the teenager, who has since been named as Kane Edwards, was located around an hour later elsewhere in the river but he could not be resuscitated. An investigation has been launched into the circumstances of the incident and the family are being supported by specialist officers.
