Recent independent testing has found problems ranging from accessible button batteries and choking hazards to dangerously strong magnets in toys sold through major online marketplaces. In 2025, Toy Industries of Europe tested 70 toys from non-EU sellers and found 86% had serious safety issues, showing why unfamiliar sellers deserve extra scrutiny.
