Plans for 94 new homes on the grounds of three former additional support needs (ASN) schools in North Ayrshire are set to be unveiled.
Residents are invited to view draft proposals for new housing on the sites of the old Stanecastle school in Irvine; James Reid school in Saltcoats and James McFarlane school in Ardrossan.
A planned £6 million 30-home development for Stanecastle will provide general needs houses, homes suitable for wheelchair users and amenity bungalows with a mix of two, three and four bedrooms.
A proposed £9.2m James Reid project will see the creation of 46 new homes in Primrose Place, Saltcoats.
The former James McFarlane site on Ardrossan's Dalry Road will provide 18 new properties with a mix of two, three and four-bedroom general needs houses, wheelchair liveable homes and amenity bungalows if a £3.3m scheme gets the green light.
Now folk in the areas are being encouraged to take part in an online draft plans consultation hosted by North Ayrshire Council housing services.
The consultation will allow people to view and comment on the proposals and house designs, which include a mix of modern, energy-efficient housing, on the site of the former schools.
Draft plans will be available to view at http://www.northayrshire.community/consultations/ until Friday, February 18.
Residents can also book an appointment with a member of staff to discuss the plans by contacting the affordable housing team via email at developmentandstrategy@north-ayrshire.gov.uk or calling (01294) 324031.
Cabinet member for Green New Deal and Sustainability, Councillor Jim Montgomerie, said: “Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, our ambitious housebuilding programme is still well on track to deliver more than 1,600 new homes for our residents in every part of North Ayrshire.
“While our former ASN schools will hold many fond memories for people, it will be great see the sites given a new lease of life and the opportunity to create new memories for families in modern, affordable, energy-efficient homes.”
Construction is currently anticipated to get underway this spring/summer and the homes should be ready for residents to move into in 2023.
The planned developments are supported by Scottish Government funding totalling £7.8m and form part of the council's vision to deliver 1,625 new properties by 2027.
