9 stars Rangers, Celtic and Premiership rivals risk losing this summer as free agent clock ticks down

The sun is out in Scotland, and with the Premiership battle on hiatus fans thoughts will be drifting to the summer months.

But for clubs across the country attention will already be turning to the transfer window and a potential bargain.

There is a long list of players available on pre-contracts as it stands with plenty going under the radar.

While there are several high-profile contracts ticking down, some switched on clubs will be trying to be clever to secure some bargain business.

So who is available on the cheap in the summer sunshine? Record Sport takes a look at some of the best business available.

Callum Hendry - St Johnstone

The striker has gone under the radar having spent the last two campaigns at the three clubs, but has always found a route to goal.

Last season Hendry impressed for Aberdeen when the Dons were crying out for goals, before being shipped out on loan to Kilmarnock for the first half of this season.

His form in the Championship saw him recalled by St Johnstone in January and he's netted six times since his return.

His eye-catching displays for the struggling side could keep the Perth Saints in the top flight - but he may be on the move after that.

Peter Haring - Hearts

Haring was a key figure at Tynecastle when he first arrived in the capital.

However, since then has seen him drift in and out of Robbie Neilson's thoughts after a long-term injury.

He is a versatile midfielder and could catch the eye of other clubs in the top flight as his contract ticks down.

It's a big call for both the player and the manager going into the summer.

Regan Charles-Cook - Ross County

The Ross County talisman took time to settle in Dingwall after arriving in the summer but hasn't looked back since the Staggies' upturn in form.

In truth, it took Malky Mackay's whole squad a bit of time to get going but now they have pulled away from the drop zone - led by Regan Charles-Cook.

He is top of the scoring charts seeing off the likes of Alfredo Morelos in his pursuit of the Golden Boot.

Expect clubs to be lining up to try and lure the forward to their club this summer.

Andrew Considine - Aberdeen

There is one thing the Aberdeen side have been missing so far this season in defence - experience.

That's something Considine could have brought to the squad had he not been plagued by injury problems this season.

But the 34-year-old's absence at the back has been felt with the Dons' shipping plenty of goals during a lacklustre campaign.

As he nears match fitness, there is a chance for him to impress Jim Goodwin and earn a new deal before the season is through.

Scott Arfield - Rangers

While all the contract talk this summer has been on the likes of Steven Davis, Allan McGregor and Connor Goldson, the focus has been off Scott Arfield.

The 33-year-old has been ever-present since Gio van Bronckhorst's arrival in Glasgow but has yet to agree a new contract with Rangers.

His agent is in discussions with the board but nothing has been rubber-stamped just yet.

Arfield could be a big loss to the club if he heads for the Rangers ' exit door.

Karamoko Dembele

Out of sight, out of mind? That could be the case for Karamoko Dembele.

The highly-rated winger has been expected to enjoy a breakout campaign this season, but has been plagued by injuries as he enters the final months of his contract.

We are in the final run-in and it's the last chance for Dembele to catch the eye of Ange Postecoglou. However, he has spent most of the season with the B team.

It could be time up for the forward at Celtic Park.

Allan Forrest - Livingston

Forrest looked to be heading out of Livingston in January with St Johnstone among the interested parties.

Since then, he has impressed for the Lions and has made himself a key part of David Martindale's squad.

Many had assumed that Forrest would be on his way out of the club in the summer, but Martindale will be desperate to keep the player at the Tony Macaroni.

Dundee United are interested in signing the brother of Celtic's James, as Record Sport exclusively revealed in February.

Scott Allan - Hibs

It's been a season to forget for Scott Allan having struggled to make his mark at Easter Road.

The playmaker battled back from a long-term illness, but hasn't enjoyed much game time under Shaun Maloney or Jack Ross so far this season.

Having spent three spells in Leith, it's almost expected that the 30-year-old will be at the club going forward.

But having not started a game since December last year, Allan will be weighing up his options.

Liam Donnelly - Motherwell

At one point in his Motherwell career, Liam Donnelly was tipped with a big move away from Fir Park.

The Northern Ireland has been an ever-present at the club in his deep-midfield role, but with his contract ticking down could clubs revive their interest?

(SNS Group)

Donnelly is able to drop into the defence and is a versatile option for Graham Alexander's men.

Despite this, it could be time for a change if a Premiership rival makes a move.
