The Met Office has said we can expect driving conditions to be affected by the thunderstorms as well as some flooding in areas.

What to expect

  • There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus
  • A chance of some flooding of a few homes and businesses, leading to some damage to buildings or structures
  • Delays to train services are possible
  • Probably some damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes

This comes as the meteorologists issue a yellow heat-health warning from tomorrow with temperatures forecast to rise above 24C.

Below is the full forecast for Leeds.

Thursday

A fine day is expected. Some parts will remain dry, with warm sunny spells and light winds. However, occasional showers are possible, turning heavy and thundery in places. Maximum temperature 26 °C.

Tonight

Any showers fading through the evening to leave clear spells. Some mist and fog patches developing in a few prone spots. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Friday

Fine start with cloud thickening from the west. Outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, then spreading east, mainly late afternoon, along with a strengthening breeze. Staying warm, however. Maximum temperature 24 °C.
