Manchester United hope to continue their recent upturn in form this weekend when they travel to Southampton.
Erik ten Hag sealed his first win as United manager in Monday's terrific 2-1 win over arch-rivals Liverpool. That helped lay to rest some of the demons which had stalked him and his players after successive defeats to Brighton and Brentford. The performance against Jurgen Klopp's side had everything United fans had been looking for - and the task for them to now build on that down at St Mary's.
Here, we look at five memorable clashes against the Saints from down the years.

United 0-1 Saints - 1976
Not a memorable affair for those of a United persuasion, the 1976 FA Cup final will forever be immortalised in Saints' history.
That is because Lawrie McMenemy's Second Division outfit pulled off a shock by sealing a 1-0 win. Bobby Stokes' effort inside the final 10 minutes secured what remains the club's only major trophy in their 136-year existence.
Saints 3-1 United - 1996
This Premier League tussle at the Dell will forever be remembered for 'that' grey kit that United decided to ditch at half-time.
Sir Alex Ferguson's side were already trailing 3-0 at the break but when they re-emerged after half-time they were donning a blue-and-white change strip. Ryan Giggs' late goal reduced the arrears but although the game ended in defeat, United would still end the season as Premier League champion.
Speaking of the kit change, Ferguson said at the time: "The players couldn’t pick each other out. They said it was difficult to see their team-mates at distance when they lifted their heads. It was nothing to do with superstition."
United 6-1 Saints - 2001
United's thumping pre-Christmas win at Old Trafford saw Ruud van Nistelrooy register his first United hat-trick.
And it took him just 31 seconds to get on the scoresheet here. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Roy Keane and Phil Neville also netted although the season ended disappointingly as United finished third and outside the top two for the first time in a decade.
United 3-2 Saints - 2017
Jose Mourinho's side sealed the EFL Cup back in February 2017 - but only after edging out plucky Southampton in a five-goal thriller at Wembley.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Jesse Lingard put United in cruise control at 2-0 but just before the break Saints' Manolo Gabbiadini halved the arrears.
He then made it 2-2 just minutes after the restart but with extra-time beckoning up popped veteran Ibrahimovic to seal United's fifth and most recent League Cup success.
United 9-0 Saints - 2021
United were in rampant mood for this Premier League clash in February 2021 at Old Trafford.
The thumping victory was a joint-record in the competition's history. It was sealed thanks to seven different United players getting on the scoresheet (Saints also scored an own goal).
The only disappointment for United fans was they couldn't be there to witness the huge win as Covid restrictions were still in place and grounds were closed to supporters.
