8th Pay Commission latest news: 8th CPC announces Bhubaneswar visit schedule for June; check meeting dates and details

The 8th Central Pay Commission (8th Pay Commission, 8th CPC) has announced that it would visit Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on July 6 and 7, 2026, to interact with stakeholders, including central government organisations, institutions, unions and associations.

Who can apply for 8th Pay Commission’s Bhubaneswar meetings? According to an official notice issued on May 26, 2026, “Interested stakeholders who wish to meet the 8th Pay Commission during its Bhubaneshwar visit can submit a request for an appointment through the designated online link given on the 8th CPC official website on or before May 31, 2026.

Memorandum submission is necessary to get an appointment with 8th CPC

The Commission has also asked applicants to submit a ‘unique memo ID’ generated after filing their memorandum on the official 8th Central Pay Commission website.

8th Pay Commission meetings in other states

The 8th CPC has earlier issued schedules of its meetings in Srinagar, Ladakh and Lucknow.

Who can apply for Lucknow meetings with the 8th Pay Commission?

An 8th CPC notice said that central government organisations, institutions, unions and associations based in Uttar Pradesh and interested in interacting with the Commission during the visit may apply for appointments.

Venue details and the final meeting schedule will be shared later with the selected stakeholders, the 8th CPC said in its statement.

8th Pay Commission asks stakeholders from other states to wait

The Commission clarified that separate meetings will be organised in other states and Union Territories at a later stage.

8th CPC meeting schedule for June 2026

The 8th Central Pay Commission will visit Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir from June 1 to June 4 2026, to interact with stakeholders.

The 8th CPC will visit the Union Territory of Ladakh on June 8, 2026, to interact with stakeholders.

Significance of 8th Pay Commission for central government employees

The 8th Pay Commission was constituted by the Government of India to review the salary structure, allowances and pension benefits of central government employees and pensioners. The recommendations of the Commission are expected to impact lakhs of employees and retirees across the country.

The 8th Pay Commission has an 18-month deadline to submit its report of recommendations.

What will the 8th Pay Commission consider while preparing its report?

As per the 8th CPC’s Terms of Reference (ToR) released in November 2025, it will consider-

  • India’s economic condition and fiscal discipline
  • Availability of funds for welfare and development spending
  • Financial burden of pension schemes
  • Impact on state government finances
  • Existing pay structures in CPSUs and the private sector
  • Service conditions and employee benefits across sectors

What is the 8th Pay Commission scheduled to do in the near future?

The government has asked the Commission to submit its report within 18 months of the release of terms of reference (ToR).

The Commission may also submit an interim report if the submission of the recommendation report is delayed.

Central government employees and pensioners are closely tracking possible revisions in salaries and pensions.
