885% excess rainfall in Ernakulam in 24 hours

KOCHI: Kochi City and its suburbs continue to receive heavy rains leading to waterlogging at various places on Thursday morning. According to IMD, the district recorded average 12cm rainfall in the 24 hours against the normal of 12.5mm between 8.30am on Wednesday and 8.30am on Thursday. This is an excess of 885% against the normal rainfall.

Though the 12cm rainfall was recorded in 24 hours, the high intensity rain started in the wee hours of Thursday and it continued for hours.
