80 jobs on offer at new Nottingham Island Quarter venues The Binks Yard and Cleaver & Wake

Recruitment is underway at the first venues opening in Nottingham’s new Island Quarter development.

Some 80 jobs are being created at The Binks Yard and Cleaver & Wake, which will be the first to open this summer in the first phase of the new canal-side development.

A recruitment event is taking place in July 22 to fill many of the posts. It takes place from 9-4pm over three two-hour sessions and will be held at Binks Yard.

Fine dining restaurant Cleaver & Wake will use the “best meat, fish and veg from across the British Isles” while Binks Yard will serve craft beer, cocktails and grills and have a wood-fired pizza oven.

The recruitment events will include talks from management and key staff members and tours of the premises. There will also be a complimentary cocktail and a selection of bites from the Binks Yard menu, as well as a goodie bag.

Emma Pearson, HR business partner for The Island Quarter, said: “The upcoming Binks Yard and Cleaver & Wake launches mark a really exciting new chapter for Nottingham, and we’re inviting the region’s hospitality workers to be a part of that.

“We have positions available from front of house to back of house at both venues, meaning there are lots of opportunities for those who might be looking for a change.

“It’s set to be a great day with lots to see and do including the chance to be the first people to get a sneak peek of the new venue before it opens to the public later this summer.

“If you’re currently working in hospitality or on the hunt for a career change, I’d urge you to register your interest quickly, as all spaces for the event are first come, first served.

“Not all roles require previous experience, but we do ask that all attendees bring along a copy of their most recent CV.”

John Whitehead, food, beverage and events project director, said: “Ensuring we have the right people in place is always a really important part of any new venue and over the past year, we’ve already recruited some fantastic talent.

“With just a handful of positions left to fill, we’re looking forward to welcoming lots of East Midlands hospitality workers for what is set to be a fantastic day.”

The Island Quarter is a mixed-use development on a 36-acre site and is one of the biggest regeneration projects in the country.

It will include homes, grade-A office space, creative spaces, a lifestyle hotel, PRS apartments, co-working space, retail units, a park and event space as well as student accommodation.

The development is a big part of the regeneration of Nottingham’s southside with the developers working closely with Nottingham City Council.
