An 8-year-old girl from Bedford, Ohio, took a 2020 Nissan Rogue from her home and drove for miles to a store where she was later found unharmed, according to authorities.
The incident unfolded on a Sunday morning when the girl and the vehicle were reported missing around 9 a.m. Family members had last seen her at home about two hours earlier.
As police began their investigation, reports came in of a small child driving a vehicle on a nearby road. The SUV was eventually located in the parking lot of a Target store in Bainbridge, nearly 13 miles away from her residence.
Authorities found the child alone inside the store. She mentioned hitting a mailbox while driving but did not provide further details about her journey or why she had decided to travel to the store.
Due to her age, the girl cannot face criminal charges, as confirmed by the police. The case remains under investigation, and it is unclear if any charges will be filed in connection with the incident.
