8 Colts on Wednesday’s Week 5 injury report including Richardson, Taylor

The Indianapolis Colts were back on the practice field Wednesday in preparation for their Week 5 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Listed on the team’s initial injury report were eight players, including quarterback Anthony Richardson and running back Jonathan Taylor.

Richardson was limited on Wednesday, officially listed with an oblique injury. Richardson did not participate in the team portion of practice, according to The Athletic’s James Boyd.

Richardson exited Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh after taking a big hit to his hip area. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero would report that Richardson is considered “day to day” as he works through oblique and abdominal strains.

Head coach Shane Steichen did say that if Richardson doesn’t practice this week, he could still play Sunday.

Taylor would not practice on Wednesday as he deals with a high-ankle sprain. Ian Rapoport reported that it was a “mild high-ankle sprain,” but that Taylor could “miss some time tough.”

Steichen added that he is not yet ruling out Taylor for Sunday’s game.

In addition to Richardson and Taylor, Kenny Moore, Kwity Paye, and Ryan Kelly were not practicing.

Both Moore and Paye missed practice all last week after they each left the Chicago game late in the fourth quarter, and neither played against the Steelers. The depth at both of those position groups is very much being tested right now.

Kelly would pop up on the injury report last Thursday with a neck injury and hasn’t practiced since. He also missed Sunday’s game. In his place was Tanor Bortolini, who did impress in his NFL debut.

Braden Smith has been on and off the injury report the last two weeks with a knee injury, although he has played in each of the last two games. Along with the rest of the offensive line, Smith continues to play well.

Lastly, Zaire Franklin did not practice and was listed with an illness.
