CHENNAI: Greater Chennai Traffic Police on Friday organised a special drive against illegal parking of vehicles on roadsides.
Inspections were carried out on important carriageways in the city to identify vehicles parked in such a way causing obstruction, nuisance to road users and eating road space.
A total of 787 parking cases were registered. Among them, 79 two-wheelers and five four-wheelers were towed, and 242 were locked, according to an official release.
“The owners or the person responsible or driver/rider of the vehicles were penalized as per law. The drive will continue,” the release said.
