Following the 76ers’ move to trade disgruntled guard James Harden to the Clippers, Philadelphia now believes the assets received in the deal will allow it to pursue another “high-level guard,” ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported earlier this week.
One name that’s already being floated is Bulls guard Zach LaVine, and Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix cited some chatter around the 76ers’ potential interest in the 28-year-old.
But that reported interest in LaVine—regardless of how serious it is, may run into a brick wall from Chicago’s front office.
The Bulls reportedly no have “no intention” of trading LaVine anytime soon, but even if they did, the 76ers apparently don’t “fit the profile” of what the team would seek in return, according to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Although it’s unlikely for Philadelphia to strike back to back trades this early in the season, it’s interesting to see a report shut down a potential trade rumor so strongly.
LaVine could be one of the names worth monitoring over the coming weeks and months, and it’ll be interesting to see how aggressive 76ers executive Daryl Morey and Co. are in their attempt to strike another deal.
