A minister sought to defend a £75,000 payout to Lord Mandelson as “value for money” after he was sacked as British ambassador to the US in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
Cabinet Office minister Nick Thomas-Symonds voiced “moral outrage” at the payment and suggested the peer should donate the money to charity.
