Seventy-two people declared candidacies for federal or statewide offices in the past week, 20 fewer than last week. All of these candidates declared before their state’s official filing deadline.
Twenty-five of those candidates were Democratic, while 43 were Republican. Four are minor-party candidates.
Fifty-seven candidates are running for Congress, five for state legislatures, four for state supreme courts, and six for a lower state executive office.
