“It’s the thought that counts” is an excuse made up by people who are terrible at giving gifts. You can’t convince me otherwise.
Not only is it hurtful and embarrassing to unwrap something completely useless, but it’s also a hassle to figure out how to get rid of it—making the whole thing unnecessarily wasteful.
