With the warmer weather finally here (even though it's not the heatwave we were promised that elsewhere in the UK are getting to enjoy) it's time to get outside and enjoy Scotland once again. Even better, the drier summer across Scotland has meant that there are reportedly fewer midges than normal out there to menace us.
This means you have the perfect excuse for a wee 'daycation' or weekend away to get out and see the stunning scenery our beautiful wee country has to offer.
With many heading to the beaches and others wanting to visit Scotland's idyllic villages and towns, we thought we'd give some love to the many incredible lochs you'll find dotted around the country.
And while Loch Lomond and Loch Ness rightly get a lot of the press, we want to highlight the other beautiful waterways we reckon you should check out when the weather is good.
Loch Maree
This remote loch can be found among the dramatic northwestern Highland scenery of Wester Ross. Achingly beautiful it's well worth the trip.
Loch Awe
With the haunting ruins of Kilchurn Castle standing sentinel, Loch Awe is the longest freshwater loch in Scotland and is hugely popular with photographers for the way the changing light of the day plays on its surface and surroundings.
Loch Voil
A little hidden gem of a freshwater loch is found close to Balquhidder in Perthshire, meaning it's not far from both Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Loch Shiel
Both the Glenfinnan Monument and the Viaduct (famous to any Harry Potter fans) lie close to this majestic Highland loch near Fort William meaning there is plenty to do and see.
Loch Dunvegan
With its serene coral beach, there are few better places to be on a warm day than on the shores of this idyllic sea loch on the west coast of the island of Skye.
Loch Morlich
The shores of Loch Morlich, near Aviemore, are where you'll find the only award-winning freshwater beach in Scotland. Surrounding by staggering scenery and ancient Caledonian pine forests it has to be seen to be believed.
Loch Duich
This expansive sea loch situated on the western coast of the mainland on the way to the bridge to Skye is home to the iconic castle Eilean Donan and is a scene looks like it could have come sprung from the lid of a shortbread tin.
