7 of Nottingham's best vintage clothing shops just waiting to be discovered

Nottingham has no shortage of clothing shops to suit any type of taste, from big brands like H&M, to independent outlets such as Mint Duck. As consumers have become more aware of our environmental impact thanks to things like fast fashion, there has been an increasing amount of vintage shops opening, new apps like Vinted and upcycling workshops to show you how to mend old garments.

Buying vintage or 'pre-loved' clothing not only means you can nab a new look that no one else is likely to have but it could mean that you save money, too. The city centre has some amazing hidden gem vintage shops that are waiting to be discovered.

Here are some of the best shops to visit to get started.

1 - White Rose

City centre

White Rose is one of Nottingham's best-known fashion brands and we aren't short of their shops in the city centre alone. It's worth a rummage through their rails though as they do manage to pick some of the best vintage treasures and their prices are very reasonable.

2 - Hidden Garmz

Long Row

Hidden Garmz vintage is tucked away down Long Row and on the second floor of Hidden nightclub. It quickly gathered a reputation among fashion fans as the place to go to find vintage clothing. The shop started life as a pop-up before becoming a regular feature of the warehouse.

3 - Karma Vintage

Cobden Chambers

Karma Vintage is tucked away in Cobden Chambers in Pelham Street but it's worth taking a detour into the side street as it's full of unusual shops and independent places.

While Cobden Chambers has many different things to discover, the upstairs shop is filled with vintage finds from jeans to jackets with a treasure trove of jewellery and shoes also available.

4 - Wild Clothing

Broad Street

Hard to believe but Wild Clothing has been part of Hockley for over 40 years. This is one of the best spots to grab a garment that is truly unique such as pieces from the 70s-inspired clothing range, Run & Fly.

5 - 101 Vintage

Bridlesmith Gate

If you are looking for comfy, casual yet amazing, then 101 Vintage is a great place to pop in to. It stocks the very best in vintage sweatshirts and retro sweatshirts. Think vintage Nike, vintage Adidas and comfy hoodies on offer in a relaxed and friendly shopping environment.

6 - Soul and Flare

Sneinton Avenues

This is not just a vintage shop but a place to go if you need to upcycle your old garments as the team there offers excellent repairs. It does mean a trip to Sneinton Avenues so it's a good excuse to make a day out of it and visit some of the other independent shops, cafes and pubs there.

Soul and Flare stock an array of vintage finds from coats to shirts to dresses. There is something for everyone here with a real mix of decades, style and flair.

7 - COW Vintage

Carlton Street

COW is possibly one of the biggest vintage shops that Nottingham has with other branches in cities across the UK including Manchester. Spread over several floors, the shop has literally everything you could think of just waiting to be discovered.

If you have a particular interest in the 90s or early noughties fashion, then this is the place to start your search for that special piece.
