An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 struck Taiwan on Wednesday, leaving a devastating impact on the region. As a result, approximately 77 individuals found themselves trapped in various locations, with the majority of them stuck in the Jinwen tunnel located in northern Hualien County.
The National Fire Agency (NFA) reported that around 60 people are currently trapped in the Jinwen tunnel, while an additional 15 individuals are stuck in the Dachingshui tunnel, also situated in northern Hualien County. Furthermore, two German nationals were identified as being trapped in a third tunnel within the affected area.
Tragically, the earthquake has already claimed the lives of at least seven individuals, underscoring the severity of the situation. The NFA is actively engaged in rescue efforts to reach those trapped and provide assistance to those in need.
