We hope you had a lovely 4th of July as we start our Friday in this NFL offseason. We continue to count down to the start of the 2024 season. The Arizona Cardinals open the season on September 8 on the road against the Buffalo Bills. That is in 65 days.
The Cardinals’ currently No. 65 is offensive lineman Elijah Wilkinson.
Wilkinson is on the team for the second straight year. He signed a one-year contract last year and signed another one-year deal this offseason.
He would be the most recent reasonably impactful No. 65 the team has had. He played in 10 games last season, starting nine at left guard. He was arguably the weakest link of the starting linemen but the Cardinals liked him enough to re-sign him.
He is almost assured a spot on the team as his 2024 salary is fully guaranteed, but his role is less certain. Able to play guard and tackle, he probably will be a backup this year.
The most recent impactful No. 65 before Wilkinson was a while ago. You would have to go back to tackle Anthony Clement, who played for the Cardinals from 1998-2004.
We will continue the countdown tomorrow.
